Every teacher should have his or her own TEACHING PHILOSOPHY that explains that teacher's beliefs and attitudes towards teaching, learning & education. It is important for teachers to think about the roles of the teacher and students, why they teach and how they teach well. How will a teacher apply his or her understanding of teaching to the classroom?
Today, our student teachers looked at teaching philosophy quotations (see photos) from several famous thinkers and educators. They discussed the attitudes of each person regarding teaching, learning and education.
We are only two weeks into our teacher training curriculum, but our student teachers have already considered the roles and responsibilities of the teacher. Therefore, it is now time for them to write their initial TEACHING PHILOSOPHIES!
It will be interesting to see our student teachers' initial beliefs and then compare those to the teaching philosophies they will compose at the end of the year. How will their personal teaching philosophies develop?
